Xovian Aerospace Secures $2 Million to Develop RF Satellite Technology

Xovian Aerospace, a spacetech startup, has successfully raised $2 million (approximately ₹18.7 crore) in a recent funding round. This investment was led by prominent investor Ashish Kacholia, alongside contributions from existing supporter Inflection Point Ventures (IPV).

The startup is gearing up to launch its first radio frequency (RF) satellite, utilizing the funds to enhance satellite development, bolster its engineering and AI teams, and establish commercial partnerships.

Founded in 2019 by Ankit Bhateja and Raghav Sharma, Xovian is focused on building RF intelligence infrastructure. The company is developing proprietary RF satellites aimed at transforming RF data into actionable insights.

One of the challenges in satellite imaging is the inability to track vessels and aircraft when they become inactive. Xovian aims to resolve this issue through its innovative RF technology.

The AI-native RF satellite will be capable of capturing and decoding dynamic signals, providing real-time situational awareness, asset monitoring, and predictive insights by integrating geospatial and signals intelligence.

Xovian's technology is designed to support organizations in maritime, aviation, logistics, and defense sectors, helping them locate assets and assess surrounding conditions for seamless operations. The startup has developed its radio-based hardware, which will soon be launched into space.

Prior to this funding round, Xovian raised $2.5 million in August from investors including Piper Serica, Turbostart, IPV, and Eaglewings Ventures.

In the competitive landscape of India’s spacetech market, Xovian faces rivals such as Pixxel, SatSure, and Dhruva Space. This sector is projected to grow to $77 billion by 2030.

As deeptech gains traction among investors, spacetech startups are attracting significant interest. Recent reports indicated that Dhruva Space is set to raise $4.2 million, while Bellatrix Aerospace secured $20 million last month.
